Welcome to the world of Melanie Rees Art

My art practice is rooted in curiosity, intuition and bold colour. I work across mixed media including acrylics, oils, charcoal pastel and spray paint, layering each piece with emotion, energy and lived experience. My work moves between bold, textured abstracts and expressive, stylised portraits, with a love for contrast, soft and raw, refined and rebellious.

Art has been my sanctuary, my rebellion and my way of staying present in a loud and overwhelming world. As a neurodivergent artist, I see the world through a different lens, one attuned to nuance, pattern, chaos and beauty. I make work that’s honest, imperfect and full of heart.

Over the years, I’ve shared my art both locally and internationally, in galleries, group exhibitions, private shows and creative collaborations. I’ve also brought colour to the everyday, painting large-scale murals on primary school walls, designing stage backdrops and creating art that sparks joy in unexpected spaces.

Teaching has always been part of my creative DNA. For many years, I’ve taught art in schools and privately, supporting neurodivergent children, teens and adults to tap into their creative voice in safe, empowering ways. More recently, I’ve brought that same heart-led approach online, creating accessible, encouraging art courses that make space for emotion, expression and experimentation. Whether you’re a first-time painter or a seasoned creative needing a spark, my goal is to help you feel braver with every brushstroke.

I believe in art that gives something back and that lifts a room, stirs something in the viewer, sparks conversation, or simply makes someone feel seen. Whether you’re here to collect, to learn, or just to wander, I’m so glad you found your way here.

Have a look at my gallery. Take your time. Allow yourself to feel.
